Welcome to the 2008 winter/spring
Dance program sponsored by the CLES PTA, under the direction
of Cindee Velle.
Creative Movement for Pre-K to K specially designed
with the young dance novice. Students are introduced to classroom etiquette,
basic floor and free-standing exercises, geometric shapes as they relate
to
dance, mastery of gross loco motor skills and creative
movement. Ballet and Jazz I,
II, and III are designed to first introduce and then fine tune the students’ skills
in both disciplines. These classes are designed for grades 1-7.
Your student may bring a healthy,
peanut free, snack to class in the CLES gym. Please no
sticky treats
or drinks per the request of CLES staff. Students
have
a water fountain available outside of the gym. Creative Movement dancers
have a shorter class time (45 minutes) and it would be best for them to
have
a snack
prior to class. Registration will start via student back pack starting
December 1, 2007 and will end on December 21, 2007.
Please send winter/spring registration
and recital fees to school in an envelope marked “CLES After School
Dance, Attn: Terri Chiu”.
RECITAL FEES - Due Wednesday,
November 14, before Thanksgiving, payable to CLESPTA. If
you are late please send as
soon as possible.
• Creative Movement recital costume and prop fees are $50.00 per child.
• Ballet/Jazz recital costume and prop fees are $99.00 per child, including
both
costumes.
SPRING TUITION FEES - Due Dec. 17 and 19, at the last fall class, payable
to CLESPTA. NOTE: we will run the spring session for 14 weeks instead
of 12, to
give students more preparation time for the recital.
• Creative Movement - $88 for 14 classes
• Ballet/Jazz - $135 for 14 classes
• New students only pay the $15 registration fee.
PAYMENT IN FULL OF ALL FEES ON THE REQUIRED DATE IS MANDATORY TO ASSURE YOUR
CHILD'S PLACEMENT IN CLASS AND IN THE RECITAL. STUDENTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED
TO PARTICIPATE IF FEES ARE NOT PAID ON TIME. A 10% LATE FEE WILL BE ADDED
TO OVERDUE
PAYMENTS.

Class Dates: 1/7/08, 1/14, 1/28, 2/4, 2/11, 2/25, 3/3, 3/10,
3/31, 4/7, 4/14, 4/21, *4/23 and 4/30 (no class: 1/21, 2/18,
3/17, 3/24).

II and III

Class Dates: 1/2/08, 1/9, 1/16, 1/23, 1/30, 2/13, 2/20, 2/27,
3/5, 3/12, 3/26, 4/2, 4/9, and 4/16 (no class: 2/6 and 3/19)
(Every effort will be made to make up missed lessons due
to the weather, based on space availability at the school
and teachers’ schedules.)
ATTIRE FOR CLASS - Girls are to wear pink Ballet slippers,
pink tights and a solid color leotard. Boys are to wear black
Ballet shoes, black tights or dance pants and a white T-shirt.
All Ballet/Jazz students, grades 1 through 7, also need black
Jazz shoes. This dress code will be enforced in all classes.
Street clothes and sports wear are not acceptable attire
for dance class.
HOUSE RULES
•
No gum, food or drink is allowed in the gym (snack per teacher’s
supervision).
• Students are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful,
orderly fashion.
• Parents are requested to wait outside of the classroom during
the lesson.
• Students must wait inside the building for parents to pick
them up.
• Please pick your child up promptly after class.
• In case of school closing due to inclement weather, there
will be no classes. 2008 RECITAL DATES
• Wednesday, May 7th - Technical rehearsal from 4:30 to 7:30
p.m.
• Thursday, May 8th - Dress rehearsal from 4:30 from 7:30 p.m.
• Friday, May 9th - Performance at 7:30 p.m., dancers report
at 7:00 p.m.
We will again be putting on our recital in cooperation with Worthington Elementary
School. Exact dates and location of the recital are determined by the availability
of a Howard county school auditorium. You will be advised when these dates
and location are confirmed.
